Inside the cave containing some of the oldest evidence of humankind in Cambodia

For almost 10 years, a French-Cambodian team have been digging in Laang Spean cave in Battambang’s Ratanak Mondol district, making discoveries which provide evidence of the earliest known civilizations in Cambodia.

With its wide, open mouth and high ceilings, Laang Spean covers about 1,200 square metres and is the biggest of 13 caves on Phnom Teak Treng.

Heng Sopha, deputy director-general of the General Department of Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, said on Feb. 27 that through excavation in The 7,000-year-old Laeang Bridge is located in Phnom Kravchang (formerly Nak Chan) in Battambang province, Uses and bodies of people For thousands of years.
